Meet my Friend Midnight and her Handler Tom!

buddy bomb dogHey everyone, it’s me Buddy here again to introduce you to another one of my girls, Midnight, and her handler Tom.

Midnight is an 8 year old black Labrador Retriever who has been with the MSA family for 7 years.  Midnight is very friendly and has a lot of fun with the people at Hines Management, 1251 6th Avenue, as well as at Rockefeller Center Management, 1221 6th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.  Midnight came to MSA from sunny South Carolina and as a play reward dog she likes to run in her yard and have fun.  Midnight’s favorite treat is bacon bits which she enjoys while relaxing in the warm sun.

Midnight’s handler is Tom Bueche. Tom arrived at MSA 7 years ago just like Midnight. He is a former Sergeant with the New York City Police Department. Sergeant Bueche worked out of the 6th Precinct on West 10th Street in Manhattan. Tom likes to read and watch ranger hockey. His favorite past time is doing a little woodworking at home.

Here are a few pictures of Midnight and Tom at Hines Management at 1251 6th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

Meet Sarah, My Bomb Dog Pal from the World Financial Center!

describe the imageHey everyone, it’s me Buddy here again to introduce you to another one of my close circle of bomb dog pals and her handler Frank.

Today’s bomb dog blog features Sarah, an 8 year old black Labrador Retriever.  Sarah is a very friendly dog and has a great time roaming the grounds of the World Financial Center and Cushman Wakefield, 1211 6th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.  Sarah has been with MSA Security for 7 years and came to us from Puppies Behinds Bars. She loves to swim in her pool, just like Mr. Wits, and hang out in her yard with Frank.  As you will see, Sarah likes to eat just like her handler Frank.

Sarah’s handler is Frank Camastro. Frank arrived at MSA 7 years ago just like she did. He is a former police officer with the New York City Police Department where he worked narcotics and emergency services.  Frank worked 14 years in emergency services, 2 years in narcotics and the remainder of his time in auto larceny. Frank likes to relax in his yard and his favorite past time is barbequing so he can relax and eat in the comfort of his back yard while watching Sarah play.

Here is a picture of Sarah at the World Financial Center and 1211 6th Avenue, New York City:

My Friend Lobitz!

Hey bomb describe the imagedog fans! Buddy here to introduce you to two more of my close circle of bomb dog pals and their human handler.

Today’s feature bomb dog is Lobitz, a 5 year old black Labrador Retriever.  Lobitz is a friendly dog with a great nose which he uses to protect the nice folks at 1251 6th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.  Lobitz knows many folks who work in and around the building and his many human friends call him “Mr. Wits.”  Lobitz loves kids, chasing things and his fellow bomb dogs call him “pool boy” because it is impossible to keep him dry if there is a pool of water nearby.  He is fortunate to work with the “Grand Dame” of the MSA bomb dog fleet, Hannah.  Hannah is a 15 year old black Labrador Retriever.  That is 105 years old in human being years!  Though getting on in years and officially retired, Hannah still has a great nose and loves going to work to keep Lobitz company.  It’s a great team!

Lobitz and Hannah’s handler is Chris Brandt.  Chris arrived at MSA almost 9 years ago.  He is a former police officer with the New York City Police Department where he worked patrol and emergency services.  Chris worked in the Midtown North and 75th Precincts as well as the Emergency Services Unit’s Truck# 10 in Flushing, Queens.  Chris likes to ride his motorcycle and taking Lobitz to lakes to allow “pool boy” to enjoy himself.

Here is a picture of Chris with "Mr. Wits" and Hannah.

Meet Buddy and His Friends

Hbuddyello, my name is Buddy! I am the senior bomb dog with MSA Security and I will introduce you to my fellow bomb dogs as well as their handlers and share with you some fun facts about each bomb dog team.  Each team is made up of a bomb dog handler and a bomb dog.  Over the next several months you will be able to get to know our teams a little better.

Let me begin by sharing a little information about myself with you and then we will get started.  I have been a member of the MSA family for more than 10 years. While I am retired as a bomb dog, I stay active and happy by continuing to work with the new bomb dogs and their handlers.  When I am not helping the bomb dogs and handlers prepare for their work, I like to lay in the sun to stay warm and play with the other dogs on my block.

My first bomb dog pal is Pablo.  Pablo is a 5-year old Yellow-Labrador Retriever.  Pablo has a keen nose for bombs and enjoys a nice peanut butter biscuit as a reward for detecting explosives.  Pablo has worked here at MSA since March 2007 and looks forward to five more good years before hanging up his leash.  Pablo came to us from a great program called Puppies Behind Bars, where he learned to socialize with people and other puppies. His favorite treat at home is peanut butter and he enjoys going to the beach to catch some rays.

Pablo’s handler is Tom Dowd.  Tom arrived at MSA about 5 years ago, just before Pablo.  He is a former police officer with the New York Police Department where he worked in the Emergency Services Unit.  Pablo and Tom work at the Mercantile Exchange, New York City.  Tom likes to play music with his band and hang out with Pablo.  Thanks guys, hope you enjoyed our first blog and say hi to Pablo and Tom if you are ever around the Mercantile Exchange or World Financial Center.

Here is a picture of Pablo with his handler, Tom at the Irish Hunger Memorial in Battery Park.
