MSA Gulf Renews Contract with CNIA in Abu Dhabi

NEW YORK, NY, December 28, 2010 – MSA Gulf, a subsidiary of MSA Security—a specialized security company that since 1987 has served as an industry leader in high consequence threat protection—announced today that it has renewed its Maritime Security training contract through June 2012 with the Critical National Infrastructure Authority (CNIA) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.  MSA, in partnership with the Global Maritime and Transportation School, United States Merchant Marine Academy, began training CNIA soldiers in July 2009 on basic, intermediate, and advanced maritime skills.  The program provides the CNIA with basic seamanship, survival at sea, search and rescue, and maritime security capabilities.

"We are excited to be able to continue assisting such a distinguished organization as the Critical National Infrastructure Agency in achieving their very important mission," says MSA President Michael E. O’Neil.

MSA began its consulting relationship with the CNIA in December 2008 to enhance its organizational capacity in counterterrorism and intelligence analysis by signing a one year contract.  In December 2009, MSA resigned its contract with the CNIA for 12 more months of Counterterrorism Program Development and Intelligence Analysis training.

Also in the past year, MSA has expanded its work with the CNIA to include other disciplines. MSA, in academic partnership with the New Jersey Institute of Technology, signed a contract with the CNIA for Rapid Reaction Force training for 14 months to instruct CNIA soldiers in advanced skills in weapons handling and tactics to respond to an armed crisis at critical facilities throughout Abu Dhabi.  The program is accredited with both domestic and international certifications.  Additionally, MSA signed a 7-month contract with the CNIA’s Security Department for counter-surveillance training to develop the necessary skills for surveillance detection.

MSA focuses its programs in Abu Dhabi on varying levels, including senior management and security executives and operational personnel.  Additionally, MSA employees are supported by mobile teams of subject matter experts who deploy multiple times throughout the year as well as senior executives based at its headquarters in New York City.

In November 2010, MSA Gulf was established to support the company’s operations overseas and the expanding needs of its global clients.  The office is located in Abu Dhabi.
