Late last night in the beach neighborhood of Isla Vista, near the University of California at Santa Barbara, a gunman opened fire from a driving vehicle and killed at least six people before crashing the vehicle. The gunman was found dead at the scene of the crash after a brief shootout with police. Additionally, seven more people were wounded. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff described the attack as “premeditated” and a “mass murder situation.” Eyewitnesses reported seeing a black BMW speeding through the streets and spraying bullets at people. Investigators have reportedly obtained written and videotaped evidence suggesting the shooting was planned and premeditated.

MSA Intelligence has located the video uploaded to YouTube before the mass murder shooting. The video can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbv5Vpa-B-0.

WARNING: The video contains content and language which may be disturbing to some viewers.

The video, authored by Elliot Rogers, describes his plan to attack sorority girls and college students in retribution for his self-described loneliness. Rogers authored an additional 21 videos and has received many comments showing the premeditated attack was known in advance by many.

MSA Intelligence will continue to monitor the situation and social media as part of a comprehensive, layered security plan. MSA Security's Research and Intelligence Analysis Group provides real-time intelligence on events and worldwide threats as they evolve.
