In the wake of the terrorist attacks last March in Toulouse, France, reports are emerging that a man claiming to be affiliated with al-Qaeda is holding four people hostage at a bank in the same city. The hostage situation developed after a botched armed robbery during which a shot was fired. The suspect claims to have explosives and is demanding to speak with the officers who were involved in the raid which led to the death of Mohamed Merah, the perpetrator of the March attacks. At this time, there are no reports of injuries and it is too early to confirm whether the attack is linked to al-Qaeda. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide relevant updates.
