North Dakota State University (NDSU) and the University of Texas at Austin (UT) each received bomb threats earlier today, resulting in the evacuation of both campuses.  A third school, Valparaiso University (VU) in Indiana, reported threatening graffiti found on their campus, but classes continued as scheduled.

UT received a called-in bomb threat at 8:35 a.m. local time from a male claiming to be from al Qaeda.  The caller warned that bombs would go off in 90 minutes.  The university posted to Twitter at 11:45 a.m. ET that the buildings were being checked/cleared.  All students and employees were evacuated from the campus, including its research facility that houses an active nuclear reactor.  Following a campus-wide search, UT officials gave the all-clear and the campus returned to a normal routine.

Fewer information was available regarding the bomb threat made to the NDSU campus.  The university issued a statement on its website at 11:48 a.m. that they received a bomb threat.  All employees and students were required to leave campus, including residence halls.

It is currently unknown if the three incidents were related, but all three campuses have since been cleared.  These each appear to have been hoax threats made to cause alarm rather than actual harm.  For more on the threats and evacuations, please see the following article from ABC News.
