MSA would like to acknowledge and honor hero Ronnie Richards, who sadly lost his battle with Multiple Myeloma on October 10th, 2015. Ronnie joined the NYPD in 1990 and was assigned to the 78th Precinct in Brooklyn. He subsequently served as a member of the Emergency Services Unit #5 and was a first responder on September 11. He worked tirelessly on rescue and recovery efforts in the weeks and months following the attacks. Ronnie was subsequently transferred to the Bomb Squad where he was promoted to Detective, and then Detective 2nd grade.

Ronnie retired from the NYPD in 2008. He joined MSA in 2009 as a Bomb Technician in our Emergency Operations Center. He quickly became a beloved member of the MSA family. Ronnie was a fan of pool luau parties which he hosted frequently and always invited the MSA team to. Ronnie Richards

Ronnie married Millie Contino in 1998. She was by his side throughout the grueling 9/11 rescue and recovery efforts. He and Millie moved with their 4 daughters, Tyla, Madison, Makayla, and Chloe, to Manalapan, NJ in 2010. Ronnie loved spending time with his family and enjoyed vacations on the Jersey Shore and in Pennsylvania. Ronnie was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators.

This year, 13 members of the NYPD Emergency Services Unit will honor Ronnie Richards by running their 2015 New York City Marathon in his memory. All donations will go to support Ronnie's wife and four daughters. MSA's running club will also be selling club T-shirts for $10 a piece in support of this fundraiser. To donate, visit the gofundme page at https://www.gofundme.com/ay6jzk4c. For running club T-shirts, please contact csavoia@msasecurity.net.  Thank you for your generosity!

UPDATE: The Ronnie Richards Fund has reached & surpassed its goal of $15,000! Many thanks to all the generous donors who made this possible. If you would like to donate, the page will remain active for one week following the marathon! Please continue to donate, all funds will benefit Ronnie's family.
