Local and Federal authorities are investigating what they believe to be an intentional crash of an SUV into a building in downtown Washington, DC last night at about 7:45 p.m. The building is located at Connecticut and L Streets, N.W; in the business district. This area is less than one mile from the White House and has a mixture of office, retail shops and restaurants.

The SUV was described as a red Jeep, reportedly stolen, was driven through a plate glass window and came to rest inside the lobby against a building column. The driver and vehicle’s interior were doused with gasoline. When the vehicle came to a stop the male occupant began struggling with security officers and was taken into custody by police. The driver was the only one to sustain an injury, although minor, he was removed to the hospital for examination.  During the subsequent investigation a gasoline container was observed being removed from the auto by authorities.

As this situation still unfolds, it is unclear as to the classification and status of this event. MSA Security will continue to follow this story and provide updates accordingly.
