This weekend, Chicago streets will be filled with thousands of people, both participating and watching the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Among the thousands of people will be security officials tasked with keeping runners and spectators safe. Security at large scale events such as this one has increased drastically since the Boston Marathon bombings in April.

The Chicago Sun Times spoke to MSA President, Michael O'Neil, who touched on working to create a balance between runner/spectator experience and security.

 “The goal is to let spectators wave signs and cheer and allow runners to do their thing, but everyone should be in the “if you see something, say something,” mindset,” O’Neil said.
