Winter Storm “Juno” is underway and has been extremely severe in many parts of the tri-state area.  Beginning on Monday morning and continuing through the early hours of Wednesday, the storm is expected to blanket the tri-state area in over 2 feet of snow. Though the storm appears to have slowed or stopped in many regions, snow bands continue to move across the area, and residents are urged to remain cautious. A state of emergency has been declared in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Travel bans were established in all 3 states as of 11pm Monday; all bans have been lifted with the exception of Suffolk County, NY and Connecticut. Newark and JFK Airports are scheduled to remain open on Tuesday, but with minimal flight activity. LaGuardia Airport is closed on Tuesday.

All tri-state area residents are urged to stay indoors if possible. Residents are warned not to over exert themselves during snow removal. Power outages are possible; it is recommended to keep your rechargeable devices at full capacity, and to have flashlights and battery powered radios readily available. Any extra blankets or quilts should also be accessible in the event you lose heat. Hot water should be run periodically to prevent pipes from freezing. Ensure that all carbon monoxide detectors are fully operational.
